Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have marked their 8th wedding anniversary with a series of rare photos from the royal ceremony, which had not been previously released.
The Duchess of Sussex shared the footage on Instagram on Tuesday, May 19, writing: "Like today, eight years ago." In the first post, Meghan and Harry appear alone on the dance floor, during their first dance as a married couple.
In some of the images, Meghan is seen with her arms around Harry's neck as the couple enjoy intimate moments at the party. One of the photos even shows a romantic kiss between them, far from the official protocol of the ceremony.

The second set of photos offers a closer look behind the scenes of the royal wedding. Meghan released photos from inside St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, where she and Harry were preparing for their official wedding photos.
The photos also include Elton John performing during the ceremony, as well as moments from Prince Harry's speech to family and guests. The last photo released by Meghan shows the couple sharing a sweet kiss.
Harry and Meghan met in 2016 and, after two years of dating, married in May 2018 in a ceremony that captured the attention of the entire world. The wedding marked the beginning of a new chapter for the couple, who would later make the sensational decision to step back from royal duties.

About two years after their wedding, they stepped down from their official roles in the royal family and moved to the United States. Since then, Meghan and Harry have lived in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in November 2025, Meghan spoke very warmly about her husband.
"Harry has a wonderful childlike sense. I was very attracted to this part of him and he brought it out in me. This is reflected in every part of our lives. Even in business, I want us to play, have fun and be creative," she said.

The Duchess added that Harry continues to love her openly and completely.
"No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he will always make sure to support me," Meghan said.
Prince Harry has also spoken often about his new life in California and the importance of family. In an interview with The New York Times in December 2024, he said he feels happy to be raising his children in the US.
"I love living and raising my children here. It's a part of my life that I never thought I would experience and I feel like it's the life my mother would have wanted for me," Harry said.
He added that, since moving to America, his main focus has been to be the best husband and father he can be. /GazetaExpress/
