Daniil Medvedev ended the perfect start to 2026 for world number one Carlos Alcaraz by qualifying for the final of the Indian Wells Open tournament.
Alcaraz had started the year by winning the Australian Open and was on a 16-match winning streak until he faced Medvedev.
The Russian tennis player started the match very well, winning the first set in just 35 minutes, en route to a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) victory in California.
The 30-year-old, who has twice finished as runner-up at this tournament in California, will face world number two Jannik Sinner in the final, after the latter won convincingly 6-2, 6-4 against Alexander Zverev earlier in the day.
