Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has selected two of this season's most successful Premier League transfers, assessing their impact since the start of the championship.
The winter transfer window ended on Monday night, with several players moving on to other clubs, but according to Rooney, two of them have had the biggest impact since the start of the season.
On his show "The Wayne Rooney Show", he highlighted that Hugo Ekitike and Granit Xhaka are two of the most important and successful moves in the Premier League this year.
Ekitike joined Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, while Xhaka joined Sunderland from Bayer Leverkusen.
"Ekitike and Granit Xhaka at Sunderland have probably been the two best signings in the Premier League," Rooney said.
Both Ekitike and Xhaka have made good impressions for their clubs so far this season, contributing significantly to their teams' rankings and play.
Xhaka, who is Sunderland's captain, has shown a high level of consistency, while Ekitike has been a key pillar in Liverpool's attack since his arrival.
Rooney's assessment comes at a time when many of the big summer and winter transfers are being analysed for their impact on their respective teams, but according to the United legend, Ekitike and Xhaka are the two names that have stood out the most this season.
