Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu, former MP of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), has said that since the last elections and this legislature, it has been characterized by the arrogance of the majority in determining the legislative agenda.
Lushaku-Sdariu made this statement on Tuesday at the conference organized by the Kosovo Law Institute, where the monitoring report on the work of the 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly was published.
Lushaku-Sadriu, praised the work of the KLI in drafting the published report, saying that it highlighted the arguments and facts about how the Parliament has functioned in recent months.
"Since the past elections and this legislature, it has truly been characterized by the arrogance of the majority in determining the parliamentary agenda, the legislative agenda. We have seen a presentation of an agenda that has aimed at all costs to break all deadlines just to process the draft laws, and the quality of these laws has never been a concern of the majority," she said, reports Betimi për Drejtësi.
The former LDK MP said that the state will have serious problems in implementing the draft laws, as they no longer reflect reality.
"And a political party with so many votes, with its arrogance, has surpassed those laws and managed to approve them - although the implementation really leaves much to be desired. Kosovo will have serious problems implementing those draft laws because they do not correspond to reality," said Lushak-Sadriu.
She stated that since the constitution of the Assembly, there has been a lack of respect or a tendency to impose laws, and according to her, especially avoiding public discussions.
"When deadlines are not respected and public discussions are avoided, the issues of interest groups are not addressed, excluding them from the law-making procedure, it has truly violated the democracy of the Assembly," said Lushaku-Sadriu.
She also reacted to the statement of former LVV MP Ilir Kërçeli, who said that it was clear that the country would go to elections.
"Today we are being told that it is the day we will go to the elections, we as MPs have not had the feeling from the beginning that we will go to the elections, but this truly shows a planning of going to the elections and an unpreparedness precisely for the main democratic principles which are political agreements and consensus. Both of these principles have probably been arrogantly removed from application on the Assembly agenda", said the former LDK MP.
Otherwise, the Kosovo Law Institute (KLI) organized a discussion conference on Tuesday on the topic: "The 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly: Challenges, Crises and Lessons for the Future", within which the monitoring report on the work of the 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly was published.
