Arne Slot could be preparing another mammoth £100m bid to rebuild his squad, just days after finalising a deal for Florian Wirtz.
After a quiet year in the transfer market under Slot, it appears Liverpool are set to spend big in the summer as the Dutch manager looks to revamp the Premier League-winning squad for next season.
Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong was the first player to join the Reds as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, while a Premier League record deal for Wirtz is expected to be announced in the coming days.
But Slot's rebuild is not expected to stop there, as the club are believed to be targeting several other big-name players, including Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez, and another Premier League player valued at around £100m.
According to a report from The Sun, Liverpool are considering rekindling their interest in Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon amid uncertainty over Luis Diaz's future.
Previous reports suggested that, if Diaz leaves this summer for Barcelona or another club, PSG winger Bradley Barcola would be Slot's first choice.
However, it is now believed that the Champions League champions want to keep the Frenchman, prompting Liverpool to turn their attention to Gordon, who is a graduate of Everton's academy and has been linked with a move to Anfield several times.
But a move for the 24-year-old will not be cheap, as he is highly regarded by manager Eddie Howe and Newcastle's board.
Since his £45m move from Everton in January 2024, Gordon – born in Liverpool – has become a key player for Howe's side, scoring 22 goals and assisting 26 more in 106 appearances in all competitions.
Although Gordon's price tag is not expected to be a problem for Liverpool, especially considering that at least one of Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota is expected to leave in the coming months.
And if the transfer goes through, it is believed Newcastle could look to replace Gordon with a loan move for Jack Grealish from Manchester City./Express newspaper/
