Following the tragic death of Portuguese striker Diogo Jota, Liverpool fans have launched an emotional campaign on social media, calling on the club to retire the number 20 shirt, the number that Jota wore during his career at Anfield.
Amidst the messages of condolence and deep sorrow that have engulfed the Liverpool fan community around the world, many are demanding that this number never be worn by any other player again, in honor of Jota's life and contribution.
"The number 20 should remain his forever. He was not only a great player, but a pure soul and an extraordinary person," one fan wrote on Twitter. Others are sharing photos, videos and Jota's famous song sung by the fans at Anfield.
Jota and his brother, André Silva, died after a serious car accident in Spain, just two weeks after he married his partner, Rute Cardoso.
