The head of the Social Democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj, commented on the statement of the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, where the latter said that "citizens should think carefully about who they vote for in the runoff, because we will not give budget to those who do not know how to work."
Limaj described this statement as an unacceptable interference in the electoral process.
Limaj stressed that it is unclear how Kurti assesses who governs well and on what basis these assessments can be made, describing this as an attempt to influence the elections.
Among other things, he invited Kurti to refrain from these statements.
"Mr. Kurti, I and others have been critical of past governments that boycotted municipalities that did not belong to the party in government. Whereas, in the last four years this has been the norm of behavior. In all municipalities where the ruling party did not govern, they were bypassed, they blocked budgets. What is happening today is direct interference in the electoral process," he said in Klan.
He added that municipalities are part of the state and should not be discriminated against based on political affiliation. Limaj invited citizens to vote with deep conviction and without the influence of external pressures, demanding that all municipalities in Kosovo be treated equally.
