Ferrari driver and Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has personally come out in support of the people of Gaza, calling for awareness and assistance for people facing a severe humanitarian crisis.
Hamilton announced through an InstaStory on Instagram, where he has over 40 million followers, that he has donated funds to three humanitarian organizations that work tirelessly to help those in need.
"It's hard not to feel helpless in the face of such a great tragedy, but we can't stand by and do nothing," the Briton wrote.
“There are some incredible organizations that are doing wonderful work to help the Palestinian people and they need funding to continue this work.”
Hamilton stressed that the situation in Gaza is worsening day by day:
“In the past two years, over 10% of the population has been killed or injured, including tens of thousands of children, and this number continues to rise. The latest onslaught has forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes, while hospitals across the Strip are filled with the wounded and people suffering from hunger, due to the seemingly never-ending bombardment.”
The British pilot also mentioned the recent United Nations report, which describes the situation in Gaza as a genocide:
"As human beings, we cannot just stand by and let this continue," Hamilton concluded.
