A new Chinese brand, Lepas, is set to enter the British and European markets with three SUV models over the next 12 months, aiming to compete with popular models such as the Kia Sportage, BMW iX1 and Volvo EX30.
Lepas is part of automotive giant Chery Automotive and is part of the company's export strategy, which aims to create new brands tailored for European markets.
The first model to be introduced, in the third quarter of this year, is the flagship L8 SUV. It will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor and 18 kWh battery, offering an electric range of up to about 88 kilometers.

The second model, the L6, is a mid-size SUV aimed at the Kia Sportage segment. It will be offered in petrol, hybrid and fully electric versions. The electric variant is expected to have a 67 kWh battery and a range of up to around 435 kilometres.
The third model, the L4, will be the smallest in the range – a compact crossover that will compete directly with the Volvo EX30 and BMW iX1. This model will be offered with an electric system, while full technical details are expected to be released later.
The company has announced that further information on its SUV range will be revealed later this year, while orders are expected to open after the official presentations. /GazetaExpress/
