La Liga has announced that the 2pm match between Real Oviedo and Rayo Vallecano has been suspended. The decision came less than four hours before kick-off, following a statement from Rayo players complaining about working conditions.

The league announced that due to the weather conditions this week in Madrid and forecasts of continued rain in the afternoon, the pitch is not playable, according to Marca.

The playing surface has long been a point of contention at Vallecas, with coach Iñigo Pérez and some players complaining that it was not suitable for matches.

Last night, the Rayo Vallecano team published a statement announcing their official complaints about working conditions.

One of the points was the playing field, which was described as "unstable" and clearly deficient.

In addition to the pitch, Rayo players also highlight the training facilities, the treatment of fans and the stadium facilities.

The statement was signed by the team, with the support of the technical staff and the Spanish Players' Association (AFE).

It also notes that all complaints have previously been communicated to the club's president, Raúl Martín Presa, but after failing to address them, Rayo says that "it cannot be postponed any longer, as we see our physical safety and basic working conditions at risk."

The club's president, Presa, who has long had disagreements with fans and has frequently clashed with players, is currently promoting a stadium change.

He believes that the current facilities are unaffordable in Vallecas and has therefore not invested in them, making an argument for building a new stadium elsewhere.

This plan has met with strong opposition from fans, who want to keep the stadium in the heart of the area.

Oviedo, who like the rest of the world were notified just a few hours ago, have released their statement.

They express solidarity and empathy with Rayo's players, staff and fans, recognizing that the safety of the players is a priority.

However, they also say they are considering legal action, claiming that the suspension represents a clear disadvantage for Oviedo in terms of competition./Express newspaper/
