SDSM today asks the government led by Hristijan Mickoski whether it has prepared the documentation for the extradition of Nikola Gruevski.
"The Ministry of Justice announced a few days ago that it will request all data from the competent judicial authorities and prosecutors' offices on all cases related to Nikola Gruevski and that it will "act in accordance with positive legal regulations."
How far along is the procedure?
Has Mickoski's government prepared the documents? Has a request been submitted for Gruevski's extradition?
While institutions in Macedonia are "collecting documents", other countries are already acting.
After Peter Magyar's announcements that there is no longer protection for criminals in Hungary, Poland did not wait, but reacted immediately and has already sent an official request for the extradition of its politicians.
Only the government led by Vanco Mihajlov, the new VMRO, Hristijan Mickoski, has not yet filed a request for the extradition of Nikola Gruevski.
This means that Gruevski is buying time and deliberately delaying it.
Gruevski will not be granted asylum in Turkey, but is already negotiating other options, such as Russia and Belarus. At the same time, Siljanovska is in Turkey to rescue Mickoski and Gruevski.
This information opens up a serious risk – that Gruevski could escape justice again.
Instead of immediate action, we are witnessing dangerous procrastination.
Undoubtedly, Mickoski is consciously slowing down the procedure, to avoid political responsibility and shame, leaving room for a new escape.
"The Ministry of Justice, the Government, and institutions must stop calculating and act immediately to request the extradition of Nikola Gruevski so that he can face justice," reads today's SDSM statement.
