The leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, met on Monday with the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, with whom they continued discussions on the issue of finding a name for president.
After the meeting, Abdixhiku said that LDK is in favor of finding a path and a candidate with the aim of avoiding new elections.
However, Abidixhiku has refused to share detailed details from the discussions he had with Kurti, emphasizing that they did not mention any specific names.
He reiterated the LDK's position that the new president should not be from Vetëvendosje.
"Any agreement that ensures the minimum number of votes required is constitutionally sufficient. No, we have not yet discussed specific names, as you know, the process is underway, we have two candidacies, LDK continues to believe that all three positions cannot belong to one political party," he said.
While the leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, has not denied the discussion of specific names, he has only said that without being sure of the outcome, he cannot reveal anything to the public.
"The meeting was tete-a-tete and we must maintain the confidentiality of the talks. When the proposals and initiatives bring concrete results, then we will be able to respond concretely about the achievements. But, as long as this is not the case, we cannot talk about the opinions we express there, which have neither brought failure nor success," he said.
Kurti has indicated that he is making efforts to meet with the leader of the PDK, Bedri Hamza.
But PDK has set conditions, asking Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti to concretize the new initiative on the president's issue in written form.
"He has been asked to concretize his new initiative through an official letter, in order to increase the seriousness in dealing with this issue. After this concretization on his part, the issue will be reviewed in the party bodies and then the final position of the PDK will be presented," a statement from the PDK media office reads.
