The country's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has expressed optimism about the three weeks remaining until the presidential election.
After meeting with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, he said that they had a friendly and constructive meeting. According to him, elections should be avoided and it is a challenge for a single party to reach 80 MPs in the elections.
"I met with Abdixhiku for nearly 2 hours, on this occasion we discussed the new political situation, after the Constitutional Court's verdict... The main issue that was discussed was the fact that we still have three weeks left until the election of the president and for this we must maximize our efforts. The meeting took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere. We are determined to avoid new elections because they would not be a solution for the number of 80 deputies. It is difficult to imagine an election campaign with the same commitments, for a result that we know cannot be much different. We do not consider the number of 61 deputies to form a government a challenge, but it is a very gigantic challenge for a party to have 80 deputies and elect the president itself", Kurti told the media, Gazeta Express reports.
