Member of the Presidency of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Hykmete Bajrami, said that "it is not at all a surprise" that WorldAtlas, using International Monetary Fund data, ranked Kosovo as the second poorest country in Europe.
Bajrami said on Frontal on T7 that for six years now the country "has been in constant inflation."
"It's no surprise to us that we rank second only to Moldova when it comes to the poorest countries. This is completely natural when you have a country that has been in constant inflation for six years," she said.
Bajrami mentioned that the Kosovo Agency of Statistics a few days ago "showed that the inflation rate in April 2026 was 7.5%."
"To tell you the truth, what I thought when I saw this is that in developed countries, just one such factor – a 7.5% inflation rate – would be enough to topple a government. But here we have had a government with 51% which, in these conditions of inflation and economic crisis, refused to take any measures and led the country to elections in order to seize all the institutions," she said.
