The Serbian Cup quarterfinal match between FK Novi Pazar and Crvena Zvezda took place in a very tense atmosphere, with numerous incidents in the stands and outside the stadium.

The Belgrade team managed to win 2:0, securing qualification for the semi-finals of the Serbian Cup. However, the main attention was not on the game on the field, but on the events that took place in the stands during the match.

The match was stopped in the 50th second for about seven minutes, and there were several other interruptions during the match due to tensions. The situation escalated into clashes between fans and police forces, creating a chaotic atmosphere in the stadium.

During the match, the Red Star fans, known as Delije, chanted the name of war criminal Ratko Mladić. On the other hand, the local Novi Pazar fans responded with chants of “Naser Orić” and “Kosovo is Albanian”, while also singing songs with political content, among them the lines: “We are left without Kosovo, it was Serbian, now it is Albanian… Kosovo will not return”.

Following the incidents, the Serbian government has proposed that the Serbian Football Federation take disciplinary measures, including the possibility of banning visiting fans from football matches.

Novi Pazar fans are known for their fierce rivalry with many Serbian fan groups and often cheer in support of Kosovo in the stadium, which causes strong reactions from their opponents.

The Albanian footballer from Malësia, Driton Camaj, is also active in the Novi Pazar team, who is developing very good performances this season and has become one of the team's most prominent players in the Serbian championship.
