Chief diplomat Glauk Konjufca, who is also the candidate for President of the Vetëvendosje Movement, has further clarified his statement on withdrawing from his candidacy. He said today that he will resign from this candidacy if the proposal from the opposition is non-partisan.
"The Prime Minister has set a certain framework. This president should not be directly from the political parties if it is decided consensually, so he should not be directly from the leaderships. For example, he should not be their vice-chairman or someone very close, coming from the ranks, the party structures."
Asked if the LDK leader, Lumir Abdixhiku, would be acceptable, Konjufca said: "I don't know, we haven't talked in this dimension."
"If it's political, Vetëvendosje has gone with its own proposal. They asked me to be the speaker of parliament, now I don't know why they don't like me as president."
He said that if there is a discussion about a party president, then this should be done through political agreement.
"So far, this option is not open for a party president. So far, it is open for a non-party president. If it is non-party, I resign from my candidacy. I resign because one of all is being found, who am I to block the way." /Express/
