Kosovo's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Glauk Konjufca, "postponed" the dialogue with Serbia until 2027.

In a statement to the media after the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the EU and Western Balkan countries, the Kosovo chief diplomat expressed skepticism that there will be positive movements for the development of new meetings within the framework of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, citing the extraordinary parliamentary elections.

"Ms. Kallas and all states expressed their willingness to contribute to building this trust, but Kosovo is in an election cycle and Serbia will have elections by the end of the year. I do not expect much from this dimension soon. Let's see in 2027 how things will develop. But I do not expect any initiatives in these months of this year," he said.

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, who chaired this meeting, said before him that the frequent election cycles in Kosovo have postponed the start of a new round of dialogue with Serbia.

"We, in fact, had planned the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina – high-level political dialogue. We had the consent of both leaders – from Kosovo and from Serbia – but now the elections in Kosovo are approaching again, which of course postpones the process," she said.

But the European chief diplomat added that she is working with "both sides" to implement the agreements that are already in force.

"I am, however, working separately with both parties so that we can continue to implement the agreements that are already in place," she added.
