Four months after the February 9, 2025 elections, Kosovo still remains without a constituted Assembly. Vetëvendosje, as the first party in the elections, has failed to secure a parliamentary majority – a failure that, according to its member Glauk Konjufca, is (also) related to the harsh rhetoric during the campaign.
In an interview with ATV, Konjufca admitted that the vocabulary used by Kurti had consequences.
"I think we paid a price for this - what is the truth," he declared.
At the heart of this political prize mentioned by Konjufca is the LDK’s categorical refusal to enter into a coalition with VV. During and after the campaign, Kurti used harsh language towards rival parties, especially the LDK, labeling them as “monsters”, “collaborators of Serbia”, and talking about “suffocating the LDK”.
LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has been blunt in his stance, citing the "huge swamp of spittle" as the reason for not participating in consultations with VV: "Words have weight. And our trust is with citizens who believe in respect and dignity."
Tomorrow, the Kosovo Assembly is expected to convene for the 32nd time to attempt to form a constitution. But the parties remain firm in their positions: the opposition rejects Albulena Haxhiu as speaker, while VV does not withdraw its candidacy.
