Harry Kane has sent a warning to the Bundesliga, confirming that next season he aims to break Robert Lewandowski's historic record for most goals in a single season.

After celebrating another league title with Bayern Munich, the England captain believes the Polish striker's legendary figure is within reach.

After Bayern's 35th league triumph and a convincing 5-1 victory over Cologne, Kane has started to think about his big individual goal: equaling Lewandowski's record, who scored 41 goals in the Bundesliga during the 2020/21 season.

Speaking during the club's celebrations at the "Rathausbalkon", Kane made no secret of his ambition for the next edition.

"That's the goal! I always say that it all depends on the number of games you play and whether you stay healthy. I'll try to continue like that. The record is certainly not impossible," the 32-year-old declared.

To surpass Lewandowski, Kane would need to score at least 42 goals in a 34-game season. It's an incredibly difficult task, but his form in Munich suggests it's not out of reach. In his three seasons at Bayern, he has twice reached the 36-goal mark in the league, with a slight dip to 26 goals last season. Overall, though, he remains a goal machine and a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Efficiency will be the key factor in this race. Kane has yet to play all 34 games in a Bundesliga season, while Lewandowski set the current record with 41 goals in just 29 appearances. To catch the Pole, the Englishman will need to increase his goals per game average. However, he has already surpassed Lewandowski's personal record for goals in all competitions in a season, as his hat-trick against Koln took his tally to 58 goals, surpassing the Polish striker's previous tally of 55.

Off the pitch, Kane's future is also in the spotlight. The striker is demanding a long-term commitment from Bayern and is reportedly eyeing a new contract that would keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2030. However, financial terms remain a key sticking point in the negotiations. Kane is reportedly seeking a deal that mirrors teammate Jamal Musiala's high salary.

For Kane, however, individual awards remain secondary. He moved to Germany to win big trophies. Having already secured two league titles, his focus is now on the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart on May 23. A win in Berlin would give Bayern the domestic double and further cement Kane's decision to leave Tottenham in 2023.

Beyond dominating Germany, the England captain has an even bigger target: the Champions League. His entourage believes European triumph is very much within reach at Bayern, especially given the current leadership of the team under Vincent Kompany. Kane has made it clear that he is not content with just goals and records — he is after the biggest trophies. /GazetaExpress/
