In the wake of receiving information from citizens, today, on 03.02.2026, the Kosovo Police has received information that in a basement of a building on "Vasilije Ostroski" street, in North Mitrovica, there may be suspicious illegal assets.
According to a media release, after receiving the information, the police took immediate action, and during the search, specifically in a collective basement of the building, they found and seized weapons.

"3 - Long guns, 1 - continuous barrel, 1 - long gun mount, 764 - cartridges of various calibers, 14 - magazines, 10 - cartridge combs, 1 - smoke hand grenade, 2 - military bulletproof vest, 4 - possible DNA samples, 2 - military jackets, 1 - military uniform shirt, 1 - pair of military trousers, textile wrappings, adhesive tapes".
Meanwhile, the State Prosecutor has been notified of the case, who has instructed the initiation of a case for the criminal offense: "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons."

It is further announced that no people have been arrested in connection with this case, while the case remains under investigation.
The Kosovo Police thanks citizens for their continued cooperation and assistance, and encourages them to report any suspicious cases or illegal actions to the emergency number 192 or to the nearest police station.
