The Independent Media Commission (IMC) met today to review and make decisions on 26 cases mainly related to media coverage of the February 2025 elections.
Among the decisions taken, the IMC has imposed a fine of 3 thousand euros on Klan Kosova television.
According to the chairman of the IMC, Besnik Berisha, the reason for the punishment is related to the fact that "the chronicles have mainly had a biased, unbalanced approach and are based on only one source of information related to the current government."
Regarding this decision, the president of the Association of Kosovo Journalists (AGK), Xhemajl Rexha, reacted, describing the IMC's reasoning as "absolutely scandalous" and as "proof of the capture of this institution by Vetëvendosje."
According to Rexha, through these decisions, an attempt is being made to exert pressure on the media in Kosovo.
In addition to Klan Kosova, the IMC has also imposed fines on RTK1 and Kanal10 for alleged violations related to the elections. Meanwhile, decisions are also expected to be made during the meeting regarding T7 and TV Dukagjini.
The AJK and civil society organizations that are monitoring the meeting have warned that they will issue an official position at its conclusion.
