Shortly before the start of the constitutive session, the KLA War Veterans Organization reacted to the blockade in the Parliament and the statements of the outgoing Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, regarding the former KLA leaders who are being tried in The Hague.
According to Kurti, Hashim Thaçi and Kadri Veseli continue to provide directives for political developments in Kosovo through visits that PDK officials make there.
Regarding this statement, the KLA's OVL said that they will not remain silent, while accusing Kurti of "moral betrayal".
"We strongly condemn the recent statement of former Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who shamefully and irresponsibly publicly attacked former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi and Kadri Veseli, claiming that they are giving "political instructions from prison". This stance is not only politically repugnant, but also legally and morally dangerous. Albin Kurti, instead of protecting the citizens of his country from international injustices, chose to join the accusations that are fabricated against our holy fight for freedom. This is a moral betrayal of the past and future of Kosovo", the organization's response states.
"OVL UÇK will not remain silent in the face of these dangerous developments. We will stand strong in defense of the values of war, the right of our people to freedom and dignity, and of every fighter who is today unjustly kept away from the country to keep shameful political scenarios alive."
OVL also said that they denounce the institutional setbacks created by an "unjustifiable and arrogant" political blockade.
"It is unacceptable that at a time when the citizens of Kosovo face insecurity, poverty and external threats, political parties, especially the winning party, play with the fate of the state only for the interests of power. This behavior is shameful and harmful to democracy. KLA fighters did not give their blood for a blocked Kosovo, nor for blind and destructive politics."
The KLA's OVL said that it addressed these two "major issues that are damaging the democratic order, state unity and the dignity of our liberation war" "with deep concern" on July 4, 2025, at its regular meeting. /Express/
