Jurgen Klopp made a surprise appearance at the Winter Olympics on Tuesday, with the former Liverpool manager taking on a special role during one of the medal events.

The 58-year-old, who has been working as Red Bull's global football director since January 2025 after leaving Anfield last summer, was present at the men's 4x7.5km biathlon final, held in Anterselva, northern Italy.

Klopp was seen watching from the crowd, talking to other fans and showing his delight. He also took on a big responsibility during the race: signaling the start of the final lap, giving encouragement to the competitors.

In the end, France took the gold medal, Norway and Sweden won silver and bronze, while Germany, his country, remained off the podium, fourth, less than a minute behind Sweden.

Klopp's participation in the Milano-Cortina Games comes as speculation continues over a return to management.

The former Liverpool manager has stayed away from the bench since leaving Anfield and has previously suggested he does not want to return.

However, his agent revealed this week that Klopp has been approached by Manchester United and Chelsea following his departure from the Reds, despite his insistence that he would not manage any other team in England other than Liverpool.

There are also rumours of a possibility at Real Madrid, where Alvaro Arbeloa took over after the sacking of Xabi Alonso, although another change could happen next summer, with Klopp a likely candidate.

Klopp himself has played down the possibility of a return to the Spanish capital:

"I'm in a place, as a person, where I'm completely at peace with who I am. I don't want to be anywhere else," he told AFP last month.

"I'm not excited if Real Madrid show interest. If they did — but that's the media. Do I want to coach again? At this moment, I would say no, but I can't say never, never, never," he added.

"I don't expect to change my mind, but I don't know," he concluded./Express newspaper/
