Judge Guenael Metraux has begun his questions to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the case of former KLA leaders, accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Metraux sought clarification from the ZPS on their request to indict and convict Thaçi and others.
“I want to clarify one point. In the indictment, you ask the jury to find guilty on each of the 10 counts that are raised, but you do not ask the jury to find guilty on the individual incidents that are relevant to the indictment. You have more than 40 alleged murders, the finding of guilt you are seeking is only on counts 8, 9 and 10 – did I understand correctly?” – asked the judge.
Prosecutor Kimberly West's Office said the charges are related to these crimes as they allege, but are based on individual incidents.
“Yes, you understood correctly. The points are for these crimes, but the crimes are based on individual incidents and of course you have to look at each individual incident.”
