Football legend and Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, has been deeply affected by the tragic death of Diogo Jota, sharing an extremely emotional message that has touched the hearts of the entire football world.
In his statement, Mourinho stressed the human dimension of the loss, placing the focus on the pain of Jota's family:
"Three children lost their father, a young woman lost her husband, parents lost both of their sons... it's incredibly hard. It's hard to believe. Maybe one day we will believe it, but not now."
Further, he described Jota as a man of rare values, far from the unbridled protagonism of today's generation.
"When people leave this world, normally we all say 'he was a very good man'. Diogo was a really good guy. He wasn't from this generation. He wasn't chasing the leading role, he became the leading role naturally, because of his talent."
Mourinho also showed a personal connection with the late footballer, revealing that they had the same agent, Jorge Mendes, and that he had closely followed Jota's journey.
"Diogo and I had the same agent, Jorge Mendes, so I know a lot about him. Even people at Liverpool know what I'm saying is true. He didn't have easy achievements, he had to fight to get where he got."
