The Kosovo Law Institute (KLI) has raised concerns about the processes developed in the Assembly regarding the selection of the boards of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), the Independent Media Commission (IMC) and the Secretary General of the Assembly.

KLI senior researcher, Naim Jakaj, said that the processes have been conducted with a lack of transparency, procedural shortcomings and a strong perception of political influence.

"Instead of the Assembly guaranteeing meritocracy and institutional independence, the process created a strong perception of political influence and undermining the credibility of independent institutions," Jakaj stated.

He said that serious problems have also been identified in the administration of the Assembly itself.

"The Presidency of the Assembly failed to conclude the process for the selection of the Secretary General, even though the legal procedures had been completed and the candidates had met the criteria for appointment. Instead of making a decision according to the law, an attempt was made to cancel the process and announce a new competition without a clear legal basis," he said.

According to Jakaj, such practices violate legal certainty and damage the integrity of public institutions.

Otherwise, the Kosovo Law Institute (KLI), with the support of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, on Tuesday published the monitoring report for the 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly.
