Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition in Israel lost its majority after the Shas party withdrew, leaving it with fewer than 61 Knesset members and turning it into a minority government.

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has issued a strong statement against the current government, describing it as a minority government that has lost the legitimacy to make major decisions for the state.

"The State of Israel, as of today, is led by a minority government. Such a government has no right to send soldiers to war, it cannot decide who lives and who dies," he said.

Lapid stressed that such a government does not have the authority to make strategic decisions, such as the fate of Gaza or reaching diplomatic agreements with countries like Syria or Saudi Arabia.

"This is a government without rights, without authority; it is an illegitimate government," the opposition leader added, calling for early elections.

The statement comes at a time of high political tension in Israel, where the current government faces widespread criticism for its handling of internal crises and conflicts in the region. The Israeli parliament consists of 120 members. This number has remained unchanged since the founding of the state in 1948, despite the country's population growth.

The Knesset is responsible for legislation, budget approval, government formation, and oversight. Members of the Knesset are elected every four years through a proportional system, where parties are allocated seats in proportion to the number of votes they receive.
