A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was announced on April 16. As part of the agreement, Lebanon must take “meaningful steps” to prevent Hezbollah and all “other non-state armed groups” from carrying out attacks against Israeli targets.
The Israeli military has now called on residents in southern Lebanon not to move south of a certain line of villages or approach areas near the Litani River.
The IDF says it remains deployed in southern Lebanon due to "continued terrorist activities by the Hezbollah organization."
It posted a specific list of villages that people should not return to or travel to in the south - adding that it hit a Hezbollah rocket overnight in the Kfarkela area of southern Lebanon.
Israel says it is creating a "buffer zone" in southern Lebanon to protect Israeli residents from Hezbollah rocket fire.
