Former Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has promoted his newest book titled "Kosovo's Economic Convergence with the European Union", a publication that addresses in depth the challenges and prospects of the country's economic development in relation to European standards.
In this work, Mustafa brings an extensive analysis of the process of rapprochement of Kosovo's economy with the European Union.
Mustafa spoke about the motivation for addressing the issue of economics in this book.
"I wanted to tell you that my main motivation for dealing with this issue was not only academic, but also a sense of responsibility, and constant thoughts about the repetition of history in our economic development, about what is called the syndrome of being last in a less developed system and last in another developing system. Therefore, precisely because of this dilemma, I have found it necessary to devote myself to the analysis of Kosovo's economic convergence, not only from an economic point of view, but also from the point of view of our society's reflection on the path that we have chosen as a society in economic development and regarding the measures that we must undertake to get out of this cycle in which we are now", he said.
Meanwhile, the president of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts, Justina Shiroka-Pula, spoke about the innovations this book brings.
"Today, I have the honor to promote the book of Academician Isa Mustafa: "Kosovo's Economic Convergence with the European Union" on behalf of this audience and guests. Academician Mustafa, as a good connoisseur of economic processes and flows, also in this manuscript has a scientific, modern and professional approach, based on the sources and relevance of the time in this field. Academician Mustafa, with his theoretical, scientific professionalism and practical experience, presents a scientific adaptation of the theory of the free market economy, the theory of economic convergence and the economic policies that Kosovo has followed in its steps of economic and social development. Therefore, in this book, too, he brings innovation from the methodological drafting approach, following a scientific approach and consisting in the inclusion of the intellectual and professional view of the convergence of the Kosovo economy with the European Union.
In this publication, “The Convergence of Kosovo's Economy with the European Union” is treated as an essential goal for achieving economic development that ensures high living standards for citizens and the prosperity of the country. This treatment also includes the efforts of other Western Balkan countries to accelerate economic development, to align and join the European Union. Analyzing the political and economic transition of Central and Eastern European countries, as one of the greatest transformations of modern times, through an analytical and historical approach, the author focuses on the features of the economic systems and policies that Kosovo has gone through”, she said.
Meanwhile, academic Besnik Krasniqi says that the book addresses topics that are important in the field of economics.
