The Democratic League of Kosovo should not be included in a coalition with the Vetëvendosje Movement, says the former leader of this party, Isa Mustafa. According to him, there is no reason to further strengthen the Vetëvendosje Movement in government.
He declares to KosovaPress that the LDK can only be further strengthened if it develops a strong opposition to the LVV government.
"I don't see any reason for us to strengthen this position even more than it is. Because they had 57 votes. They can make whatever decisions they want. For me, the LDK can be strengthened even more if it develops a strong opposition, it helps Kosovo even more with a strong opposition than the government in Kosovo needs to have a strong opposition. If the LDK or PDK go and join Vetevendosje, then we will have a government in Kosovo without opposition. I don't get tied to the past, to the history of whether we have been a good opposition or not. But what it is now, with 57 deputies in the Assembly of the Vetevendosje Movement, it is a necessity for us in Kosovo to have a strong opposition," he says.
Mustafa expresses surprise at the victory of the Vetëvendosje Movement over 51 percent in the last elections, while according to him, it did not even offer a political program.
According to him, despite the big victory in the December 28 elections, it is unclear how the Vetëvendosje Movement will act in forming new institutions.
He also mentions the recent ruling of the Constitutional Court on the election of the deputy speaker from the Serbian community. For this reason, Mustafa also sees difficulties in the full constitution of the Assembly. /KP/
