Former leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, says that the situation with the non-constitutio...n of the Assembly speaks of a lack of political responsibility on the part of the party, which came first in the national elections, but did not win the elections.
Speaking about the failed sessions, Mustafa says that it was clear that VV does not have the votes to elect the speaker of parliament, and consequently not to form a government.
The former Prime Minister says that the request for the Constitutional Court to resolve this problem is not fair and, according to him, is more harmful than beneficial in terms of parliamentary democracy.
"Especially in a situation when the ruling party is ignoring the basic elements of the Constitution. In a normal situation, there is more room for the intervention of other courts to bring to justice those who are violating the Constitutional order than the Constitutional Court itself. The usurpation of power is contrary to the Law. The usurpation of the position of the Speaker of the Assembly by deviating the agenda by manipulating the search for votes for a secret ballot and not for the proposed candidate for Speaker/resembles a constitutional, legal paradox, and of our parliamentary practice. Those who abuse their role should be dealing with the law, not the Constitutional Court. The Constitution is clear, it must be implemented and not rewritten, as has happened. The Constitution recognizes the majority, as the rule of democracy", Mustafa told IndeksOnline.
Further, he says that if the party that came out first can create a majority to constitute the Assembly and form the government, it moves forward; if not, it leaves room for those who do not join it.
"Even yesterday's opposition cannot behave with logic - I don't want you in power, but I don't want myself either. With the refrain - We don't make mistakes like those before us. Every step in politics is challenged with mistakes and successes, above all with taking risks.", Mustafa concluded.
We recall that the Constitutional Court has imposed a temporary measure, stopping any decision by the deputies until August 8, when it is expected to issue a verdict regarding the requests of the PDK and LDK.
