With the idea of the American - a close friend of Kosovo - Benito Mares and directed by the renowned Danish director, Peter Anthony, the initiative for the film project "Liberty Song" has begun, which will be a product of Ikonik Media Group - a Kosovar production.
The extraordinary film project is already in the pre-production phase, while the idea for "Liberty Song" comes from the famous 1998 song, "A vritet pafaļēsia" by Leonora Jakupi.
"Is Innocence Killed" had become an anthem during the war in Kosovo, where it inspired thousands of Albanians to join the fight in 1998.
But the film will not only have this song as its story.
It will be a journey that will encompass the life of the famous Kosovar singer, Leonora Jakupi, during 1998.
"Liberty Song" is a story about a female heroine, where the Albanian female weapon during 1998 and 1999 was her voice.
The story of this film will include emotional moments of Leonora and the time when she, as an artist and singer, faced various challenges, starting with the murder of her father and ending with the iconic moment of the launch of the song "A vritet pafaħēsia" on November 28, 1998.
The film is expected to be directed by renowned Danish director Peter Anthony, who in the past impressed with the film "The Man Who Saved the World", a project that brought together big Hollywood names such as Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro, Matt Damon and Ashton Kutcher.
But what makes this film so special?
A different narrative where women are not just victims, but strength, a calling, and a symbol of heroism. A major budget has been foreseen for this project, and this Sunday, at the Swiss Diamond Hotel in Pristina – starting at 14:00 PM – a fundraising conference will be held where local businessmen are invited to become sponsors and investors in the realization of this film of global proportions.
The film's script is being developed by Ardian Jasiqi, while international actors are expected to be part of the cast.
If all goes according to plan, this film may not just be a tale of our past – but a serious contender for international festivals and maybe, why not… even the Oscars. /GazetaExpress/
