Tehran is "reviewing" negotiations with the United States in light of the US attacks on Iran last night, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei was quoted as saying by the Iranian Students News Network (SNN), CNN reports.
Baghaei accused the US and Israel of "repeated ceasefire violations" and said diplomacy cannot "take place in a vacuum," adding that "a minimal environment in which diplomacy can function" is needed for negotiations to progress.
"Unfortunately, the United States is undermining this process through contradictory messages, frequent changes in its positions and demands, and through repeated violations of the ceasefire," he said, adding that Israel has also shown a lack of sincerity through its continued attacks on Lebanon.
In the latest exchange of fire, Iran said last night that it had launched retaliatory strikes on American targets in the region after coming under fire from the US. The US military said it had ended the strikes against Iran, which it said were in response to the downing of a US military helicopter.
