Iran has accused the United States of not showing seriousness in the diplomatic process, despite public statements of readiness for negotiations. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that US actions do not match claims of diplomacy, the BBC reports.
"While they talk about negotiations, their behavior in no way shows seriousness about a diplomatic process," he said, according to international media reports.
Baghaei added that Iran does not accept deadlines or ultimatums when it comes to protecting national interests. He also stressed that the issue of Iran's nuclear stockpile being dismantled has never been an option in the negotiations.
These statements come after the first round of talks between Iran and the US, held on April 12 in Pakistan, ended without an agreement. One of the main points of disagreement remains the management of Iran's nuclear program, leaving it unclear whether the parties will achieve progress in future meetings.
