Kosovo Post, in collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences/Department of Biology, launched today the new postage stamp issue "Invisible Fauna in Kosovo - Spiders and Scorpions".

According to the announcement by the Kosovo Post, this show is dedicated to small species, but of great ecological and scientific importance in Kosovo, such as spiders and scorpions, which live mainly in mountainous, rocky areas and forests, under stones or in the layer of leaves.

“Brachythele kosovarica is a ground spider endemic to Kosovo, initially discovered in the village of Veriq (Istog), and also recorded in Mitrovica, Peja and Prizren.

Harpactea dardanica is a spider of the Dysderidae family, discovered in the beech forests of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna Mountains. It lives mainly in the soil layer and under leaves, with a secretive and mainly nocturnal lifestyle. The name “dardanica” is associated with ancient Dardania, reflecting the historical and geographical connection with the territory of Kosovo.

"Alpiscorpius dinaricus (Di Caporiacco, 1950) is a small scorpion endemic to the western Balkans," the announcement states.

The postage stamps and the First Day Cover from this issue will be in postal circulation until fully consumed.

Kosovo Post has invited collectors, institutions and citizens to enrich their collections with these unique stamps, which represent a combination of the scientific and natural values of Kosovo.
