Lorenzo Insigne is ready to return to Serie A and reunite with his former Napoli coach, Maurizio Sarri, at Lazio, but that could only happen after September.
Insigne had the best moments of his career working with Sarri at Napoli and never managed to show the same level again, especially after his transfer to Toronto FC in 2022.
The striker has played 139 games under Sarri at Napoli, scoring 47 goals and providing 34 assists.
He is now a free agent again after terminating his contract with the Canadian club by mutual agreement and, at the age of 34, has no intention of retiring from football just yet.
Football Italia reports that Insigne and Sarri have been in contact to discuss the situation and both are enthusiastic about a reunion at Lazio.
The Italy international has other offers, specifically from Udinese and Parma, while there is also slight interest from Fiorentina, but he would immediately prefer to work with Sarri again.
The main problem is that Lazio is currently under a transfer embargo due to financial constraints and cannot sign any players until January, even if they are free agents.
However, it is possible that by September sufficient funds will be generated to unblock this embargo and allow free transfers, so Insigne is willing to wait until then.
