FIFA President Gianni Infantino has stated that Iran's national team will participate "without any doubt" in the 2026 World Cup, despite the ongoing conflict with America and Israel.
He stressed that football must remain separate from politics and that Iran's participation is important for the very spirit of the sport.
Speaking at an international forum, Infantino expressed confidence that the Iranian team will be part of the tournament, adding that he hopes the situation will be calmer by then.
He underlined that Iranian players have a desire to compete and that FIFA aims to build bridges through football, even in times of global tensions.
However, Iran's participation has been in question due to geopolitical developments and security concerns, especially after some voices in the US suggested that the team should not travel.
Despite this, FIFA remains determined that the tournament will take place as planned and include all qualified teams.
