French President Emmanuel Macron began his official visit to New Delhi today.
His staff informed that "discussions for the sale of another 114 Rafale fighter jets to India are progressing."
"Negotiations are progressing," presidential sources said, expressing optimism about reaching a trade agreement with India, which has already signed a contract to buy 62 Rafale jets from the Dassault company.
Last week, India's Defense Ministry gave the green light to buy more French fighter jets, announcing a list of arms programs with a total value of 33 billion euros.
Discussions between Paris and New Delhi began immediately and mainly concern the conditions for the production of the aircraft, as India would like them to be assembled on its territory.
According to the French presidency, India is also interested in buying more Rafales, in their naval version, which are specially designed to land and take off on aircraft carriers. It has already purchased 26 such aircraft. /Panorama
