Russian journalist and TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov has insulted Giorgia Meloni again. After his comments on television led to the summoning of the Russian ambassador by the Italian Foreign Ministry, Solovyov, who is close to the Kremlin, posted a message on Telegram addressing the Prime Minister.
"Ms. Meloni, I am speaking to you as a Jew, persecuted once again by the Italian authorities. This has happened more than once in Italian history. I am not a propagandist, but a Jew and an anti-fascist, addressing you, a follower of the fascist Mussolini, who fought in the war against the Soviet people and who, like Hitler, is personally responsible for the death of 27 million Soviet citizens, the genocide of the Soviet people and the Holocaust against the Jews," he wrote.
"By sharing Mussolini's ideas, you are accomplices in all the crimes of fascist Italy and, logically, you must be co-responsible for them," he added.
He also attacked Italy's support for Ukraine, calling it a Nazi state, in line with Russian propaganda narratives.
“However, you show sympathy for these crimes by supporting the Ukrainian Nazi state, which carries out terrorist attacks on Russian soil and has never kept its repeated plots for murder secret. When you respond to me personally, please remember this.”, he concluded.
His statements were contradicted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who expressed support for Italy and stressed that Russian propagandists will not change its position.
"The miserable Russian propagandists will not change Italy's position. All my respect to you, Giorgia, and to all of Italy. The miserable Russian propagandists will certainly not be able to distract the attention of those whose compass is the defense of the national interests of their country. Thank you and all Italians for this very clear position," he wrote in X.
