LDK MP Avdullah Hoti assessed that President Osmani, with the amendments for the president, made "a desperate and comical attempt to change the rules of the game within hours, only for personal interests."

According to him, if Osmani were "nominated by her boss, neither she nor they would have a problem with the fact that the president is not elected by the people."

His full response:

On the last day of the constitutional deadline for electing the president, when it became clear that he could no longer continue in that office, he decided to challenge the institutions by proceeding with amendments in violation of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly. A desperate and comical attempt to change the rules of the game within hours, solely for personal interests.

This is not constitutional reform. This is political stupidity.

The irony is that if she had been nominated by her boss, neither she nor these others would have had a problem with the fact that the president is not elected by the people. Then the Constitution would be "in order", the procedures would be respected, and no one would have thought of improvising constitutional changes overnight.

When the Constitution begins to be treated as a tool for narrow political interests, then the problem is not in the way the president is elected, but in the mentality of those who see power as personal property.
