Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that there is "nothing new" after the meeting with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, where the issue of the President was discussed.

He told reporters that as a parliamentary majority, they are "14 MPs away" from the President. Thus, he said there could be 3 candidates.

"Now we are 14 MPs away, which makes the situation more difficult. But as the Vetëvendosje Movement, we have the opportunity to nominate a candidate because we get 30 signatures. Together with the minorities that we have in the majority, we can nominate two candidates, because with 66 people you can get 60 signatures. Now the opposition, if we do not include the Serbian List, has 43 MPs. So the opposition can nominate a candidate too," he said.

Kurti said that "the Constitution obliges us to avoid elections, not to go to elections."

"On the other hand, it also obliges MPs to vote. I don't know if this will happen, but the conditions are ideal for us to have 3 more candidates, while currently there are none," he said.
