Cologne's U19 team has broken the attendance record for a Champions League Youth match, as 50,000 fans filled the RheinEnergieStadion for the match against Inter U19.
The match, which was a round of 16 tie, was played in a packed stadium, with tickets having been sold out more than a week before the match. However, the German team, the reigning Bundesliga champions for this age group, were defeated 3-1 by Inter.
The previous Uefa Champions League record was set in April 2025, when 40,368 spectators watched the match between Inter and Trabzonspor.
The RheinEnergieStadion stadium is the seventh largest among current Bundesliga clubs and the 12th in Germany, while Cologne is one of the most supported clubs in the country, with around 155,000 members.
At senior level, Cologne is currently ranked 10th in the Bundesliga, while the U19 team leads its group and is aiming to win its third German championship title. /Express newspaper
