Iran's Lebanon-based proxy Hezbollah fired about 30 rockets toward Israel on Wednesday morning, the Israeli military said, a day after Israel and Lebanon held their first direct talks in decades in Washington, DC, CNN reports.
Most of the rockets were intercepted and the rest fell in open areas, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
Meanwhile, at least 35 people were killed by Israeli attacks in Lebanon within a 24-hour period, the country's health ministry said in its daily update on Tuesday.
Fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has continued despite a ceasefire brokered by the US, Israel and Iran that took effect last week. Israel has refused to commit to a ceasefire in Lebanon. The two sides agreed to hold further talks “at a mutually agreed time and place.”
On Tuesday, the foreign ministers of Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and 14 other countries issued a joint statement on Lebanon, calling on "all parties to urgently de-escalate tensions and seize the opportunity offered by the ceasefire between the United States and Iran."
