The Speaker of the Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, did not answer the question of why they are not proposing Vjosa Osmani as a candidate for president.
Haxhiu suggested to the journalist who asked the question at a press conference after the Assembly Presidency that he should ask it to the Vetëvendosje Movement parliamentary group.
"One floor below is the Vetëvendosje parliamentary group. I encourage you to take the stand of Vetëvendosje. Today I am speaking after the Presidency meeting as Speaker of the Assembly," she said.
Asked if specific names were mentioned at yesterday's meeting of the LVV General Council, she said that "there were discussions" on the issue of the President, but added that "no specific names were mentioned, except for those that Prime Minister Kurti has publicly mentioned."
Speaking on the issue of the President, Haxhiu said that "the process of electing him or her must reflect responsibility, prudence, and above all a spirit of cooperation."
"This is not the time for clashes or for unachievable demands that distract the process from its essence," she said.
Haxhiu said that "honest discussions are needed, with achievable demands and not insurmountable barricades."
She said she welcomes meetings and discussions between political parties on this issue.
"I also support any serious effort for constructive dialogue between political parties with the aim of finding a unifying candidacy."
