The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, has often been seen wearing the suit he was wearing today.
Asked if this has any symbolism, he replied that it is a traditional costume of a German-speaking area.
Haradinaj said that this is the costume of the Habsburgs, who were enemies of the Serbs and attacked the then Serbian empire.
"Excuse me, but this is just a traditional costume, the clothing of part of the German-speaking areas, the Habsburgs in front... We have a square here in the square called 'Habsburg Square'. The Habsburgs during their government or their rule there were enemies of our enemies. So, they attacked the then Serbian empire and others and it is a kind of friendship, that is, friendship. Only for that," said Haradinaj.
He made it clear that the suit is not a war uniform, adding that when the Habsburg ruler came to visit Deçan, he was wearing this suit.
"Yes, it is a traditional Habsburg costume. It is not a war uniform, nor any other order... When Otto von Habsburg came to visit us and when we honored this square, he had this costume on, and we also wear it in honor from time to time," said Haradinaj.
