At the 10th Electoral Assembly of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, where the election of Ardian Gjini as party leader is expected to be formalized, current leader Ramush Haradinaj delivered a speech to the delegates, commenting on his political journey and confirming the continuity of his commitment to Kosovo and the Alliance, EO reports.
Haradinaj opened his speech by recalling his personal history and commitment to the liberation war.
"From a young age as a child until I was 31, I have served my homeland as a service for liberation. I had the honor of being a soldier and commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA. Thank you, long live the KLA, thank you fellow fighters, thank you for the sacrifice we made for freedom," he said.
Speaking about the post-war period and his role in politics, Haradinaj also mentioned the leadership of the Alliance and the state functions he has held.
"Since 2000, at the age of 32, I have served Kosovo and the nation as the chairman of the Alliance. I have had the honor of being elected as a member of parliament in every legislature and being elected prime minister twice, with your support. Thank you, Alliance, for the journey together," he said.
Haradinaj emphasized that he will not withdraw from political engagement, but will continue to contribute in other ways.
"From today I will continue to serve Kosovo and the nation as one of you. Service to Kosovo never ends. Forever the Alliance, forever the KLA, forever Albanians across generations," he declared.
He has given direct support to his successor at the helm of the party.
"Today, Chairman Ardian, I and the Alliance believe in you. We believe that you will be our leader, the leader of Kosovo, the leader of our best list. Just as I have trusted myself on my journey, so I trust Ardian and the Alliance. Long live you Ardian, long live the Alliance," said Haradinaj.
He also called on citizens and the diaspora for support in political processes.
"Citizens of Kosovo, brothers and sisters in the diaspora, you are our blood and you will never be separated from us. Serve Kosovo, serve with a two-thirds vote for the Alliance list. I served Kosovo by not running, but I invite you to continue on this path," said Haradinaj.
