Today, a solemn session is being held in the Kosovo Assembly on the occasion of the celebration of the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence.
Regarding this, Bedri Hamza, the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, gave a speech on the occasion.
Here, Hamza stated that February 17th is the day when the courage of many generations and their sacrifice became hope for every citizen.
The leader of the PDK also said that, in Kosovo's darkest hours, the democratic world did not remain silent, and that ''we are eternally grateful'' to the United States of America.
''February 17th is the day and hour when our flag was raised for the first time in these institutions, the day when the courage of our generations and their sacrifice became hope for every citizen. This day was no coincidence.
It was the peak of resistance. Kosovo went from sacrifice to sovereignty. This Republic is a victory. Its foundations are carved with the blood of martyrs. Today, on this day, we bow with gratitude, before the families of martyrs, before the freedom fighters, and before the allies. In the darkest hours of our history, the democratic world did not remain silent. We are eternally grateful to the USA, thank you to the EU countries, to the KFOR soldiers who guaranteed peace and security on our land. Kosovo does not forget, they know how to honor their friends.
"Citizenship is not just a flag and an anthem, it is security and justice. It is the preservation of our historical truth. Today we celebrate but at the same time we reflect, because while we build the future, the most glorious part of our history, the liberation war, is in the dock in The Hague.
