Halil Geci was interviewed today by the Kosovo Police, Serious Crimes Department, regarding suspicions of threats against President Vjosa Osmani.
His lawyer, Gazmend Halilaj, has stated that the case is unprecedented and that in no democratic country does the president deal with citizens' posts.
"THE PRESIDENCY IS TAKING A CITIZEN TO THE POLICE FOR A FACEBOOK STATUS," the lawyer wrote in a post.
He added: "Dear friends, after a few hours in the Serious Crimes Unit, Baci Lilë was released. In no democratic country does the President of the state deal with the statuses of citizens, when the rights to free expression of opinion are guaranteed by the European Convention and the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo."
Halilaj also emphasized that “Baci Lilë is known worldwide as a person who has been promoting peace and tolerance everywhere for decades.”
