MP from the Vetëvendosje Movement, and former KLA commander, Fadil Hadergjonaj, is pleased with the decision made by the Parliament to send a contingent of the Kosovo Security Force to an international mission in Gaza, reports Ekonomia Online.
Hadergjonaj, in an interview with Ekonomia Online, stated that he himself has been part of the processes from the beginning to the formation of the Kosovo Army and its participation in international stabilization missions.
"It is an extraordinary decision, it is a major decision of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, especially it conveys the powerful message that the subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo is increasingly growing. When we talk about the Kosovo Security Force, this has strong foundations in the KLA. Today we also had the 27th anniversary of the fall of the hero Sali Çekaj and 12 other martyrs, but history tells us that Sali Çekaj's activity was one of the initiators and ideators of the establishment of armed groups, up to the rise, development of the KLA and the war for the liberation of Kosovo. Then the processes that the KSF has gone through, its members have been challenged, especially during the time of the KPC due to the conditions, disarmament, due to all the aspects that have been. But only their great will and determination have made them continue and stay despite the low salaries, despite the lack of equipment, despite the lack of legal infrastructure and many, many other things. But they were sworn and determined to carry forward the legacy of those who fell for the freedom of Kosovo. And that legacy was for us to have a state, to have strong security institutions and, of course, to move forward in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, which has also been a strategic vision since President Rugova", Hadergjonaj told EO.
He said that making this decision is a credit to everyone, but especially to the Kosovo Security Force, who are very professional and internationally trained.
"The decision we made in the Assembly was preceded by an agreement called the "Peace Board Agreement", of which the Republic of Kosovo is also a part, among the founders of that board. And from there also stem the obligations of the international stabilization force, of which the Kosovo Security Force will also be a part, to end or implement the comprehensive plan for ending the conflict in the Middle East, namely in Gaza. It is truly a great achievement and this exclusive merit is of course everyone's, but in particular it is of the professionalism and expertise as well as the dignified representation of the members of the KSF, who have been raised, developed and trained within the framework of international standards. So the credit goes to them, because wherever they have appeared, whether in individual activities, or in collective activities, various joint exercises with multinationals, they have shown an extraordinary performance and have shown that they have reached a level of development and professionalism that many regional armies envy. And this has increased, it is proof that the KSF has become a reliable partner for our friends, especially the USA and NATO countries that help us to jointly have freedom and independence and the state of Kosovo. It is a great achievement, I as one of the members of all these processes until my retirement, I am truly very proud and happy because I have never, even though I have completed active service in uniform, continue to serve in another form, but still my mind, conviction and heart are with our soldiers", said Hadergjonaj.
