The Chairman of the KLA War Veterans Organization, Hysni Gucati, has called the Prosecution's request to sentence the KLA four to 45 years in prison madness.
"This is the madness of the 21st century, what the Special Court Prosecution has requested 180 years in prison for the leaders of the KLA, for our four colleagues or the former president or others. The prosecution cannot find facts, arguments and now it is dealing with 45 years and I think that this prosecution does not deserve to be where it is today. Because this is not justice. I am afraid that this is not political justice because if it is political, we Albanians have the experience and the bad experience from the political courts in the former Yugoslavia and in the former Serbia. I hope that it is justice as it should be distributed but I want to believe that these prosecutors have completely failed", he said.
Gucati expects the trial panel to disregard the ZPS's claims and declare Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi innocent.
"I believe and I want to strongly believe that the trial panel will not take any of the statements of the prosecution as a basis. That all of these statements or all of these accusations have been fabricated and assembled by people whose bodies are in Kosovo and whose heads are in Serbia. And I hope that the defense has been very strong and the judges will lean towards justice, not the opposite side of the prosecutors. And this leaves me with a great impression that this prosecution has failed completely, seeing the reasons it has given that connect Adem Jashari, why Adem Jashari met with Hashim Thaçi, with Kadri Veseli, with Selimi, with uncle Jakub, with Rexha and others. It means that it also deals with Adem Jashari, he is dead, he has been a martyr for 28 years with his entire family, 56 members who have been killed and these people deal with Adem Jashari, it means that we did not have the right to liberate our country from the hordes", he said./KosovaPress
